#1273: Big Love.

"Through thick and thin till death do us part,
Through sickness and health, for better or worse,
What kind of a guy would I be if I walked out when she needed me the most?"

#1272: I thought those days of me getting misunderstood are long gone...

Blogging from my phone.
Locked up in my room.
Tears flowing through,
No one ever knew.

Didn't mean to be poetic.
Heck, I'm not even in the mood to be poetic.
I just had a very huge quarrel with my dad and unfortunately, today is Yuan Xiao Jie too.
Children always think they are never in the wrong, so do I this time.
I bear good intentions, I never meant to NOT help in any way.
The situation goes like this: we all agreed to have dinner together as a family tonight but we thought ah boy has work so my folks asked me to help him call his manager to let him have the day off.
I refused, cos I thought this is something he has to deal with himself.
I can't possibly do all the nitty-gritties for him all the time.
My bro's gotta learn how to be independent y'know.
And so, my dad flared up, shouted at the top of his voice, and accused me of ALWAYS NOT helping even with little favours like this and I rebutted, saying my little siblings have got to learn how to handle things themselves.
They cannot possibly be sheltered forever from whatever responsibilities that come their way in life.
He then hollered, saying since I'm the eldest, I got to bear that responsibility.
I hate that.
Do you know, since young, JUST BECAUSE I'M THE ELDEST, I have to suffer at the expense of my siblings?
I'm always receiving less of what they get and it is because I deserve it.
Why? JUST BECAUSE I'm the eldest and I have to give in to them.
Y'know, I've learnt to accept that fact already.
But I cannot tolerate the way they depend on others to get the things they want or to get things done.
As you all know, I advocate independence.

My dad continued to yell at me and challenged me to retort and I said this, "you're not in the right state of mind. I don't wanna fight with you anymore" and I went back to my 1500 words essay assignment, while having uncontrollable tears trickling down my cheek of course.
No point in telling them what I truly feel, I thought.

He went silent, I typed about three sentences for my essay and went to shut myself in the toilet.
My goodness, I have been crying for almost an hour and a half already.

I'm not crying because I'm weak.
I'm crying because like always, I'm misunderstood in the family.
My parents always think that I'm selfish and self-centered.
That I care more for my friends than my family.
If I am, why would I buy ikea furniture for the family out of my own pocket?
Why would I suggest making a family portrait out of photos?
Why would I treat my family and ah ma and uncle to watch a movie with good reviews about life in the 60s in SG so as to want them to reminisce about the good ol' times?
On Valentine's Day some more, cos I believe V-Day is not only about love between couples.
I know I'm very busy with school and work and at times, I'm very saddened by the fact that I can't spend quality time at home so I make up to them by treating them to occasional perks.
Why don't they understand?

I can never forget one incident which scarred my childhood.
I got slapped and punished to stand outside my house by my dad while neighbours pointed their fingers and stared at me JUST BECAUSE I came home without my siblings.
My dad did not even give me a chance to explain why they were not home with me and slapped me across my face.
I felt deeply misunderstood because you know why?
My sisters refused to go home with me because they wanted to continue playing with the other kids downstairs.
Here I got slapped and insulted by my neighbours thinking what a naughty child I was and there they were, having the fun of their lives.
I will never, ever put that incident behind me.

No one in this world can hurt me so much, except those whose blood runs in me.

#1271: Still obsessed over Valentino!

Valentino's Lace D'Orsay.

When I googled "lace heels", I found Christian Louboutin's Ambro!

Christian Louboutin is another sexy designer who creates magnificently beautiful things for women's fashion.

In his U.S. trademark application, Louboutin explains the inception of the signature red soles:
"In 1992 I incorporated the red sole into the design of my shoes. This happened by accident as I felt that the shoes lacked energy so I applied red nail polish to the sole of a shoe. This was such a success that it became a permanent fixture."

Lucky me, I managed to find these inspired CL heels.
Determined to get them now but in what colour?
Both? Sounds good!
But honestly, which one looks better?
Give me your two cents' worth!

#1270: Valentino Garavani

Haute couture. High fashion.
I come across this word very frequently on America's Next Top Model.
"Some models can do haute couture, while some sweet-looking Miss USA-lookalike can only settle for commercial modelling", so often said Tyra.
When I heard that Valentino's retrospective is coming to Asia near home, in sunny Singapore itself, I knew I had to see for myself what haute couture is all about.

Valentino, who?
I only know he's a short Italian guy who's extremely well-established in the glamorous world of fashion and has created many signature looks when I browse through "Female" in the past.
The following excerpt is more descriptive of who he really is.

Adjectives, adjectives, adjectives.
"undeniable ambassador of elegance... romanticism, modernity and classicism... sovereign grace with timeless allure... accentuate the silhouette... fluidity, femininity and sensuality..."

Countless pieces of timeless gowns.

The very famous Valentino gown made famous by Julia Roberts.

And I distinctly remember this piece because the white goes superbly well with Cameron's newly-dyed black hair.

Thank you, Valentino.

And now I know, haute couture pieces are made with intricate, detailed workmanship and are truly deserved to be flaunted as art.
