#145: Brain cancer?

Dont think that i am joking alrights. Yes, there may be a possibility that i may have a tumour growing in my brain. Recently, meaning like 2 weeks ago, i have been suffering from intense headaches, ones that last really long like 4hours. Also, at times, i will experience the dimming of lights in my eyesight. This is an unusual condition and it came together with these headaches. It persisted till now.

I skipped school today to go consult a doctor. After diagnosis, the doc said that i merely suffered from tensional headaches, otherwise known as stress headaches. HOWEVER, this is not entirely true because i had not been honest. She explained symptoms of brain cancer to me earlier before she made the diagnosis, saying that i would experience numbness of the limbs (WHICH I HAD BUT I DIDN'T TELL HER DUE TO FEAR!!!), double visions, and etc.

After consultation, i really am afraid of dire consequences now that i know i have 2 of the symptoms in brain cancer. I thought about my schoolmate who unfortunately, had passed away due to a brain tumour. I dont want to die so young you know. I have not done so many things in my life. As i thought about all these things just now, my headache came again. What if i really had that thing? I have to go through chemotherapy and surgery and my hair will be gone! i cant attend school and go shopping! These things are not really important but i want my health!

I took a nap just now and when i woke up, i had numbness in my right hand again! It happened last night too! I remembered the doc saying patients of brain cancer will experience partial numbness of their limbs, meaning only one side of their body. What am i supposed to do now? I'm so scared ok.

I told Rebecca about my fears and she said i would be fine and all. All my friends would do nothing but console me and stuff. I dont want it to be this way.

i told myself that i will observe for a period of time before really walking into the hospital for a full-body check-up. My promos are coming and i cant afford to take the blow.

"Tension-type" headaches, or tension headaches, are the most common type of headache. About 30% to 80% of adults occasionally experience this kind of headache. Tension headaches are more common among women than men. These headaches are sometimes called stress headaches, muscle contraction headaches, daily headaches, or chronic non-progressive headaches.

Tension headaches usually begin gradually and often occur in the middle of the day. A tension headache may occur on an episodic basis (less than 15 days per month) or on a chronic basis (daily or more than 15 days per month). Most people with episodic tension headaches have them no more than once or twice a month, but the headaches can occur more frequently.

What Are the Symptoms?

In mild to moderate tension headaches, there is a constant, band-like pain or pressure that lasts from 30 minutes to all day. Tension headaches tend to be moderate or mild and are rarely severe. Unlike migraines they are not usually unilateral, throbbing or associated with light and sound sensitivity or nausea and vomiting. Other features of tension headaches may include:

-Headache upon awakening
-General muscle aches
-Difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep
-Chronic fatigue
-Irritability
-Disturbed concentration
-Mild sensitivity to light or noise
-Occasional dizziness

On the other hand, brain cancer is like this.

The most frequent symptoms of brain tumors include:

-Headaches that tend to be worse in the morning and ease during the day,
-Seizures (convulsions),
-Nausea or vomiting,
-Weakness or loss of feeling in the arms or legs,
-Stumbling or lack of coordination in walking (ataxic gait),
-Abnormal eye movements or changes in vision,
-Drowsiness,
-Changes in personality or memory, and
-Changes in speech.

Frequently Asked Questions about Brain Cancer
- I have headaches all the time. Can I be suffering from brain cancer?
Headaches have many causes, such as stress, eyesight problems, and migraine. Seek medical consultation if there are worrisome symptoms, such as vomiting, double vision, weakness of one side of the body, seizures or if the headache is getting progressively worse.

I really hope that i am fine. pray hard.

#144: I am Sam.

oh. did i mention that there's this really really nice show that i watched on channel 5 just now? It's called 'I am Sam'. So touching sia the story. Anyways, i simply adore Dakota Fanning to the core because she's so talented. And can you believe she's only 12 this year? I first saw her in 'Hide and Seek' last year, then in 'War of the Worlds' with Tom Cruise. She has already acted in 32 movies!!! She's so adorable. Nice blonde.

Here's some of her screenshots.

#143: The holidays...

It has been ages since i last blogged... Ooo... Let's see. It's 1.47am on Sunday morning, and to think that i am still on the com typing away happily. Oh come on huimin, school's reopening tomorrow! How much have you exactly studied? Goodness.

Right now, i'm blogging, as well as switching channels between Star Sports and Channel U. Star Sports: Man utd vs Tottenham. Current score: 1-0. Alrights. I think they are going to score more. Go, Man U! Huimin's your ardent supporter! Channel U's showing the repeat telecast of Meteor Garden. You know sweet young ladies like me love these shows. Romantic.

Oh well, i shall review what i have been doing the past week.

Last saturday, i hurt my right foot badly. I was carrying plates back to the kitchen where i tripped over a stupid i-dunno-what-toy-it-was and fell. FLAT ON THE HARD CEMENT FLOOR. The next moment i knew, i was wailing like a baby. It was bloody hell painful ok. I had a big black bruise on my right foot. Lucky that was plain plastic plates. Plates made of glass were next on my list. Dont you know how lucky i felt? Imagine my face pierced through the glass shreds itself? Excuse me for that gory imagery.

Come monday was Geog make-up tutorial in school. Nothing much significant though. Thereafter, i went to Bugis with my siblings. My second sis needed a new bag. Bugis doesnt offer much choices you know. Everywhere we walked we saw Zinc bags. Simply zinc. Fine.

Tuesday was a bad bad day. I left the whole of a 10mark geog question blank. However, i think i did pretty well in the later part of the question which warrants 10 marks too. So, i may well pass the dumb geog revision test.

In the evening, i had a family dinner. At the Lagoon. What a cheesy place. The food there was ok. OK only. Not that best mah. It is the environment that makes the place look good.

Thursday was a very enjoyable day. I had a gathering with my MI friends- Peiyu, Cathryn, Desmond, Wilson, Buck Sen, Joel and Chee Hao. We went to town and had dinner at Cafe Cartel. Goodness. The bill ran up to 93 bucks. No worries, judging by the number of people, each of us merely need to fork up 10 over bucks for a ncie dinner. We caught up on our individual lives and cracked jokes as usual, mainly by Wilson that crap king. He is my 'rumoured' other half because we used to 'tai-gang' a lot during the days in MI. How i miss those days...

Hmms. Yes. Thats about all i did over the hols. School's reopening soon and i guess i have to pull up my socks really fast because muggers like Aloysius and Malcolm and Victor and many many more are nearing the finishing line. I have to catch up.
