That`s it. I can`t take it anymore. You know what`s happening in my house now? My dad`s calling all the relevant people to discuss about my grandfather's funeral arrangements. My mum, on the other hand, is speaking to my relatives to inform them and ask for their opinions whether to let my gran pass away peacefully in the nursing home or the hospital. He hasn't really crossed over, the doctor merely told my dad to have mental preparation cos he`s really in an unfavourable state now. So, my parents are now undertaking all the necessary arrangements should my gran suddenly leaves us. I`m breaking down soon. On top of the exam stress, I still have to deal with this. How am I supposed to take the pressure?!
Things go like this. A fortnight ago, my gran was taken to Tan Tock Seng hospital from the nursing home due to breathing difficulties. He was stroke-ridden for 10 whole years to date. I went to visit him with my family at the hospital twice. The first time I went, he was really in bad shape. He cannot consume anything except nutritious milk through a feeding tube via his nose. I could not stand my emotions and went to the toilet to cry. You know how hurtful it is to see a loved one, especially one who waits everyday without fail, rain or shine, at Bedok Library for the school bus to fetch me home everyday in such a state now? That was in primary one of course, and not long later, he was diagnosed with a stroke. But still, my gran lived with us until 5 years ago, my sister arrived in this world and the house was too small to accomodate my sickly gran, we decided to send him to a nursing home.
Earlier this week, he was miraculously discharged by the doctor though I really see no improvement in his condition. Today, the home called my dad and asked him whether he wants to arrange my gran to pass away in the nursing home or send him to the hospital. He is half paralysed due to the stroke, cannot even recognise me- his granddaughter, nor can he talk to anyone. Do you know how disheartening and heartbreaking can it be to see your loved one not recognising you, when once, we shared such family-warming moments together? It`s damn hard to cope, plus the exams arriving in like roughly 3 weeks? I also can`t stand my parents talking to each other like my gran has really left us, but to put it realistically, it`s preparation. But really, I can`t stand it!
No one in my immediate family has passed away before, except those on my maternal side in Thailand. But I`ve not attended their funerals so I don`t know what it feels like. What if my gran really leave me during my A's or worse, before my A's?! I am definite that I cannot take the pressure!!! No amount of consolation and encouragement from anyone can save me from my turmoil ok. I`m damn emotional de la, if you haven`t realise.
However, I`m just trying to cope with my inner emotions now, and you know I`m a strong girl. My family is planning to go to the home to see him tomorrow morning. I really pray hard and hope that my grandfather can persevere till next year. At least let him enjoy Christmas before taking him away.
May GOD bless him. Really.
