Today has been an extremely awful day for me.
Stinking day, I would call it.
Ah, I don`t even know how to start writing about it.
I won`t go into details about what had happened.
I merely flared up in class because of a silly prank played on me.
And may I kindly add, an intrusion of my privacy as well.

The volcano in me has been accumulating the lava for too long.
It finally erupted.
Just bear in mind that Miss All-Accomodating can turn into Miss Nasty in the blink of an eye.
A smart ass will never provoke a tamed lioness.
Why? For the simple reason that all lions bite.

People who really really know me will know my pet peeve for intrusion of privacy.
I have a secretive nature - never like to kiss and tell.

I have never seen the need to publicly declare this but I will say it now.
I seriously and honestly and genuinely hate it when my privacy gets invaded.

Even if you are the bestest friend I have ever had, once you cross this boundary, thats it man-
I hate you.

I may appear to be alright on the surface, but I seriously detest it when you meddle with my stuff, turn on my Vaio when I`m away or go through my phone and things which are considered private to me in my absence.
WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.
I totally abhor and despise this behaviour.
Not impressive.
Respect, in my opinion, is something which you have to earn and then given duly upon.

Even this blog.
I hate it when my friends divulge the address to other people without my permission.
It happened not long ago, and I was darn pissed about it.
Things that I write here are considered private, maybe even personal details that I share with my friends who I regard as rightful readers of this humble blog.
I don`t like the feeling of strangers, people I have never informed of my blog address, to read what is going on in my life.

I learnt this the hard way.
I used to be guilty of probing into other people`s affairs, given the kaypoh nature of my personality and I learnt that it was outrightly wrong of me to do so.
I have since learnt my lesson and I vow never to be like that anymore.

Another thing is, I miss my life in TPJC so much the overwhelming yearning is driving me insane.
I miss my friends who are on the same frequency as me.
I miss o6s28.
I miss their laughter when I fell flat in the science lab and for burning my test-tube holder as well.
I miss the ponning of lectures and the gossips sessions in the library.
I miss my friends so much.
1_176909922l

You have no idea how hard I have tried to adapt into the situation I find myself in now.
I have to cope with the different backgrounds.
People from all walks of life.
I find myself stagnant.
I should be progressing but something is impeding my development.
To me, that is absurdly disheartening.
I even find myself losing ME.
I don`t understand why I am limiting myself.
Why should I, in the first place?

Time will sort out my thoughts, I suppose.

Humans living in caves and away from the info-tech age will not know about this piece of alarming news - the outbreak of Swine Flu.
This pandemic has caused a stir globally, or rather, it has already appeared on headlines all over the world because every country has begun to heighten their security checks at the customs to prevent any possible spread of the deadly virus.
Needless to say, the death toll is rising.

WHO has increased the risk of the Swine Flu from Phase 3 to 4.
swine

The numbers:

Mexico: 149 dead. 400 hospitalised. 1614 under observation.
The United States of America: 48 confirmed to have contracted the virus.
Canada: 6 confirmed.
Columbia: 9 suspected of contracted the virus.
New Zealand: 10 suspected.
Australia: 5 suspected.
Spain: 1 confirmed. 20 under suspicion.
France: 1 confirmed.
Israel: 2 under suspicion.
Peru: 1 under suspicion.
Czech Republic: 2 under suspicion.
England: 2 confirmed. 17 under suspicion.
Scotland: 2 confirmed.
Germany: 3 under suspicion.
Hong Kong: 3 under suspicion.
Taiwan: 2 under suspicion.

As adapted from the WHO website,

Influenza pandemics are recurring events.

An influenza pandemic is a rare but recurrent event. Three pandemics occurred in the previous century: “Spanish influenza” in 1918, “Asian influenza” in 1957, and “Hong Kong influenza” in 1968. The 1918 pandemic killed an estimated 40–50 million people worldwide. That pandemic, which was exceptional, is considered one of the deadliest disease events in human history. Subsequent pandemics were much milder, with an estimated 2 million deaths in 1957 and 1 million deaths in 1968.

A pandemic occurs when a new influenza virus emerges and starts spreading as easily as normal influenza – by coughing and sneezing. Because the virus is new, the human immune system will have no pre-existing immunity. This makes it likely that people who contract pandemic influenza will experience more serious disease than that caused by normal influenza.

Some key facts:

What is Swine Influenza?
Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza virus that regularly causes outbreaks of influenza in pigs. Swine flu viruses cause high levels of illness and low death rates in pigs. Swine influenza viruses may circulate among swine throughout the year, but most outbreaks occur during the late fall and winter months similar to outbreaks in humans. The classical swine flu virus (an influenza type A H1N1 virus) was first isolated from a pig in 1930.

Can people catch swine flu from eating pork?
No. Swine influenza viruses are not transmitted by food. You can not get swine influenza from eating pork or pork products. Eating properly handled and cooked pork and pork products is safe. Cooking pork to an internal temperature of 160°F kills the swine flu virus as it does other bacteria and viruses.

SO PLEASE DO NOT BOYCOTT PORK. I pity the pork sellers.

According to the reports, this worldwide outbreak is transmitted by human-to-human interaction.

How does swine flu spread?
Influenza viruses can be directly transmitted from pigs to people and from people to pigs. Human infection with flu viruses from pigs are most likely to occur when people are in close proximity to infected pigs, such as in pig barns and livestock exhibits housing pigs at fairs. Human-to-human transmission of swine flu can also occur. This is thought to occur in the same way as seasonal flu occurs in people, which is mainly person-to-person transmission through coughing or sneezing of people infected with the influenza virus. People may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.

Be safe, my friends.
Observe good personal hygience and be thankful that our government is doing whatever they can to prevent the pandemic from spreading into Singapore.

HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY
LIM HUI LING!
People say 女大十八变,
you`re definitely at your prime right now.
Carpe diem.

Accompanied her to Tampines One to get her rebonding done after lessons today.
She`s unlike me- she has straight hair but merely wanted to get rid of the flyaways so ta-dah, REBONDING at the famous Monsoon- Twister Salon opened by renowned celebrities at the newly opened shopping centre.

In the process.

That`s the salon!
IMG_1845
See the guy in black? That`s the cutie who did my sis` rebonding.
Man, he was so meticulous.
I asked for his name before we left because I was so impressed by his ability to pay attention to delicate details.
His job scope only surrounds chemical hair treatments.
Doesn`t involve himself in cutting of hair.
His name is Damien. Go look for him for quality chemical treatments kay!
Extremely friendly, approachable and a tad too shy. Heehee!

Salon co-owned by these four celebs- Addy Lee, Quan Yi Fong, Mark Lee and Michelle Chia.
IMG_1844

Know what I gifted Ling?
I bought her the thing that she has been wishing for in a loooong time - BIRD`S NEST!
IMG_1849
She has been ranting on and on about wanting to get bird`s nest but can`t bear to part with her moola so I did her a favour.
She has a weak constitution la.

Tingting in the action once more.
Remember the bday card she drew for me on my bday? HAHA. Darn hilarious.
Now here`s one for Ling.

UNLUCKY
is the word to describe the day I turn twenty years and a month old.
Today marks the end of Boat Asia 2009 and I was looking forward to snapping numerous splendid photos of the yatches and the magnificent seaview.
So I woke up early and charged my canon battery.
Left it on the charger and guess what.
I took out my Ixus baby when I reached HarbourFront, thinking of snapping a shot of the cable-cars and only then that I realised my battery is left all alone on the charger at home.
I was like, I can`t believe I`m such a birdbrained homosapien!
I was grudging all day.
Totally spoilt my mood.

Fortunately, one of my colleagues Chisato brought her pink Canon Ixus 80 IS (fabulous!) and we managed to capture some photos.
Will be up as soon as I get the photos from her!

Well, the unluckiness do not just end there, to my dismay.
I was removing my contact lens in the bathroom and the ( I don`t know what you call that but I call it the stopper to the sink) stopper was open.
So the situation was like, the sink was open, water was flowing because I was running my left hand through the flowing water and my right hand held my lens and the next moment I know, I flushed my lens down the sink cos my right hand accidentally came into contact with the water.
Usually when the stopper is shut, even if I drop my lens, I would still be able to retrieve them cos my sink is pink.
Easily visible you see.
And I just changed my lens barely a week ago!!!
What a waste la!
And I have got only a month`s supply of lens left.
Argh, this spells more outflow of financial resources.

PS: By the way, I`m looking for Geo lens. Anyone who knows where to get them can leave me a message on my tagboard! Thanks in advance! I`m actually quite anxious to get them so ya. =D

boatasia1

My inactivity in blogging is aptly explained by Boat Asia 2009.
Was and still am involved in the abovementioned event.

Marina at Keppel Bay is a beautiful place which is beyond words.
The bridge is one of my loves (knowing my secret fetish for bridges) because it illuminates at night.
It`s absurdly romantic to walk down the bridge while enjoying the chilly sea-breeze and feast one`s eyes upon the picturesque scenery full of splendid yatches.
A pleasurizing experience.

Will update on Monday with photos.
Too shagged from work right now.
Gotta go catch up on my sleep.
No puffy eyes allowed cos there are expected to be throngs of visitors attending the event tomorrow.

PS: I love participating in events. They open up my eyes to see the world. Meeting and interacting with people from across the world made me realise how vast the world is. Like on the first day, I met this gorgeous German lady. She eventually became my friend and we had a nice long chat today. Also, I met two Italians and they taught me how to say "thank you" in Italian- "Gratzi". Ultimate coolness. Like I said, I love my part-time job.

Love. Ciao.

Thank you my star, Amina Maisara.
We will always be each other`s pillars of support as promised.

My classmates at school were so wicked to trick me by playing on my compassion.
Nonetheless, I must thank my buddy for his well-designed plan.
I was completely caught off my guard.

I can say that I was extremely moved by what my BFF has done for me.
She surprised me at Grand Hyatt by showing up unexpectedly.
She collaborated with Amina by telling her my address, allowing her to show up at my house at 8am in the morning before I set off for school.
She went around looking for sponsors for my many wonderful experiences such as the cable car rides and the musical performance by the seaside.
One can easily tell how much effort and time she has put into this successfully executed birthday plan.
For me.
ME.
I`m not saying my other friends have not done enough to make me feel appreciated.
I`m just saying that this woman surpasses it all.
I believe each and every one of you would agree with me whole-heartedly.
I am just.. very very very honoured and blessed to have met this amazing girl who has sparked my life in her own way.
Thank you, my beloved BFF.

I saved some interesting birthday smses which warm my heart and I wish to share them right here.
