I had it for dinner today and it reminded me of...
my Cooking Mama dish.

....which got me to think that I have not blogged about Cooking Papa!
So here's the HYPE about it. Get set, GO!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL,
COOKING PAPA DAY HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTED!
The D Clan has had a successful Cooking Mama last year (click
here to read the cooking mama post!) and we have decided to continue the tradition that we ingeniously came up with, with the tumultuous, but ultimately smooth execution of Cooking Papa this year.
Date: 12th July 2009
Day: Sunday
Venue: SeeThorHuiQi's humble abodeThis time round, d-clannies are expected to bring an invited guest of their own and the guys would have to whip up a meal which will be used for judging by who else none other than the d-clannies ourselves!
I invited
Danny, who is a past participant of the Cooking Mama last year, while...
Huiqi brought
Kin Lung,Yiwen was paired with
Gene and
Joanne was matched with
Melvin. We also had additional participants like last year-
Jessie (Kin Lung's sister) and her boyf,
Kevin. Each cooking papa has a "Cooking Papa Starter Kit" sent to them to have them better prepared for the event, in which the kit included stuff like this:
HAHAHA and I had a good laugh over Huiqi's humour. Read on.

The Cooking Papa event kicked off!
Careful with that knife of yours, Danny!

Introducing his ingredients.

Looks like Melvin
enjoyed his cooking very much, judging from his
wide grin.
Oh I had the guys wear name tags on their shirts as a form of an "ice-breaking" tactic. Melvin is kinda foreign to the guys, you see.

Gene- Yiwen's beau hard at work.

Oil squirts! HAHA!

Kin Lung.

Kevin. Must he really be topless? LOL!

***I have ALWAYS felt that guys who are willing to make the effort to cook and whip up a decent dish
really charming.Gene helped us capture some shots right before the judging.
Poor Thorry must be running around like a lost housefly so she was not in the photo.
Candid. I like this one actually. It feels so natural and everyone looks good.
HAHAHA. And this one is good as well. Cheeky faces.
The first dish is up! Mmmm.... looks not bad y'know!

The second dish - SIBEI TAM! (in hokkien)

Try to spot a
heart shape in the midst of these luncheon meat chunks.
HEART SHAPE!

To be honest, it looks more like a smiley face to me.
Um. I do not really approve of the dish name but... well, creativity's part of the judging criteria!

Don't just look at this dish at face value. It tastes
heavenly!

Mel mel and Joanne.

They seriously have the
夫妻 (husband-and-wife) face!
Of course after all these seemingly palatable dishes were presented, the judges proceeded to deliberate.
Trust me, the judging process was met with many opinions and comments and after much careful consideration, we decided that the winner goes to Mr Woo with his SIBEI TAM!
Didn't manage to capture the prize-presentation ceremony. Wasted.
Anyways, what he received was an exclusive DClan oven mitt and 3 cooking utensils with "DCLAN COOKING PAPA CHAMP" written on them.
Nice, ain't them? xD
On my way back home, I spotted kites flying high up in the sky.
I'd always love the Buangkok field.
There was once when Huiqi and I went on the field at night and just stood there watching stars.
DAMN NICE AH!
Didn't know it was equally nice in the day as well.
She has a really scenic neighbourhood, I must say.
And once again,
KUDOS TO COOKING PAPA DAY!PS: Thank you See Thor Hui Qi and sorry to have kept you busy while we made use of your kitchen. Aiya we so close already no need these formalities la hor. HAHA!
